Description Denis Sokolovsky 2009-12-24 14:34:15 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #297166 +++

Now with hal-0.5.14 and kde-base/solid-4.3.4-r2 I have broken display brightness management. "solid-powermanagement brightness get" always say "Brightness is 0%". But now setting brightness also does not work.

Furthermore suspend and hibernate from KDE also does not work, but works from console via pm-suspend/pm-hibernate.

Also "powerdevilconfig" in "Capabilities" page show that my processor (suddenly) does not have "Scaling capability" but file /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_governors says "userspace powersave ondemand performance"

Because ebuild kde-base/solid-4.3.4 removed from tree I can't check for sure, but as far as I remember all works fine with kde-base/solid-4.3.4.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 281988 ***
Comment 2 Denis Sokolovsky 2010-01-11 11:27:13 UTC
This is not a dup of bug 281988. With sys-apps/hal-0.5.14 and kde-base/solid-4.3.4 all works fine for me and plasma-workspace *never* crushed. But with new kde-base/solid-4.3.4-r[12] I have many problems and take my laptop in suspend by magic command "chvt 1 && sleep 1 && pm-suspend && sleep 1 && chvt 7".
Comment 3 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2010-03-12 23:05:50 UTC
What's the situation with solid-4.3.5? Or (if you use ~arch) 4.4.1?
Comment 4 Denis Sokolovsky 2010-03-17 12:47:03 UTC
Sorry, can't check at the moment because my laptop is repairing now (from jan 18). I hope that next week I got it back, and then, after update, I will report about current status.

I have solid-4.4.2 installed at the moment, and seems like all stuff work fine now.
