Downloader for X is a Linux/Unix userfriendly program with nice X interface to download files from the Internet. It suppotrs both FTP and HTTP protocols, supports resuming (of course if server side supports it) and makes downloading files from internet easy. Was already in portage once: http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/gentoo-x86/net-misc/d4x/?hideattic=0 IIRC it got removed becasue it failed to build with gcc-4.4 and upstream was dead.

Yeah, I got the same issue after downloading 2.5.7.2 sources which was released on November 2009 and sorta got the same issue. The project is active I think, it's time someone notifies the developer about this.
As a result this bug should be closed
