Description Najib Idrissi 2009-12-13 13:23:30 UTC
The recently stabilized dev-libs/DirectFB-1.4.2 breaks many things.

First, emacs and firefox-bin won't start; they complain because libdirectfb-1.2.0.so is missing. Re-emerging www-client/mozilla-firefox-bin doesn't fix it, and app-editors/emacs doesn't compile at all.

Secondly, qingy behaves weirdly. After re-emerging it (it also complained of the lack of .so), it started to get print two chars each time I pressed one key.

Masking dev-libs/DirectFB-1.4.2 (and downgrading) solved everything eventually.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

Actually downgrading didn't solve everything. The old 1.2.7 ebuild has been modified in such a way that INPUT_DEVICES_* use flags don't work anymore. No keyboard, no mouse. Yay.
Comment 2 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2009-12-21 22:16:45 UTC
read the postinst next time. you need to run revdep-rebuild on a SONAME change.

as for INPUT_DEVICES, this is by design. fix your USE expanded settings.
Comment 3 Najib Idrissi 2009-12-22 08:46:32 UTC
1) I ran revdep-rebuild and it didn't work. emacs didn't compile, qingy didn't work any better.

2) What do you call "USE expanded settings"? There are no input devices-related USE flags in the old ebuild.
Comment 4 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2009-12-22 13:54:12 UTC
the lack of options in the old ebuild isnt terribly relevant. read `emerge -pv` and figure out which devices you need to add.

broken deps wrt old missing SONAME is not a bug in DirectFB. your libs are broken and they need fixing (via revdep-rebuild or something similar). ask on the forums for assistance if you cant quite figure it out.
