Description Rafał Mużyło 2009-12-02 21:50:09 UTC
Regardless of text relocations patch,
some are still there (at least on x86).

Can't really tell much more.
Comment 1 Rafał Mużyło 2009-12-02 21:51:05 UTC
Forgot to tell, they are still in tvtime plugin
(and only there).
Comment 2 Gordon Malm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-12-02 22:24:42 UTC
Adding reference: bug 164425.

emerge --info, build log, scanelf output... need info to go on you know.

output of scanelf

binutils 2.20 (but I doubt it matters)
as this is is a problem at linking, only my arch (x86, as already noted)
may count - in the biuld.log there's only a standard "creating TEXTREL"
message.
Comment 4 Rafał Mużyło 2009-12-03 00:10:46 UTC
This may be related to V_PAVGB macro and MANGLE(ShiftMask),
but I still don't known enough about assembler to really tell.
Comment 5 Rafał Mużyło 2009-12-03 00:12:14 UTC
...at least the text relocation guide points in that direction.
Comment 6 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-02-24 21:38:19 UTC
Try 1.1.18 (for reference) and take this to upstream: http://bugs.xine-project.org/

I assume hardened has posted the previous patch there, since it was applied in Portage, wondering why it wasn't applied upstream for this release...
Comment 7 Rafał Mużyło 2010-02-24 22:42:37 UTC
Well, the patch seems to work - I don't see TEXTREL
warnings in the log of 1.1.18.
Comment 8 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-02-25 09:29:43 UTC
Hardened: The patch will be dropped from next version unless link to upstream bug is provided (either in the ebuild, or properly in the header of the patch)

i don't know when i'll have time to look at this myself nor handling an upstream submission, sorry.

closing then.

can't promise the patch will stay there before hardened@ takes it upstream, though
