Regardless of text relocations patch, some are still there (at least on x86). Can't really tell much more.
Forgot to tell, they are still in tvtime plugin (and only there).
Adding reference: bug 164425. emerge --info, build log, scanelf output... need info to go on you know.
Created attachment 211830 [details] output of scanelf binutils 2.20 (but I doubt it matters) as this is is a problem at linking, only my arch (x86, as already noted) may count - in the biuld.log there's only a standard "creating TEXTREL" message.
This may be related to V_PAVGB macro and MANGLE(ShiftMask), but I still don't known enough about assembler to really tell.
...at least the text relocation guide points in that direction.
Try 1.1.18 (for reference) and take this to upstream: http://bugs.xine-project.org/ I assume hardened has posted the previous patch there, since it was applied in Portage, wondering why it wasn't applied upstream for this release...
Well, the patch seems to work - I don't see TEXTREL warnings in the log of 1.1.18.
Hardened: The patch will be dropped from next version unless link to upstream bug is provided (either in the ebuild, or properly in the header of the patch)
(In reply to comment #8) > Hardened: The patch will be dropped from next version unless link to upstream > bug is provided (either in the ebuild, or properly in the header of the patch) i don't know when i'll have time to look at this myself nor handling an upstream submission, sorry.
