Description crusaderky 2009-11-24 20:04:52 UTC
As soon as I plug my Creative Zen V Plus in the usb port, banshee completely freezes on my x86_64 pc. I've already tried any combination of the following:

banshee-1.4.3-r2
banshee-1.5.2
libmtp-0.3.7
libmtp-1.0.1

as well as rebuiliding all mono-related packages several times.
banshee-1 --debug doesn't provide any info, as not even a line of text is printed since I insert the device.

Funny thing is, it actually WORKS on my other x86_64 box in all the above configs! I checked all of my ebuild versions, and I use the very same ebuilds on the two machines!

I use mono-2.4.2.3 on both PCs.
Any ideas on how to provide useful debug info? (i.e. some libmtp test program)

sorry bad post

Reopened - I can confirm this is notnot a libmtp bug Running #mtp-detect works fine.

I'm running mono-2.4.2.3.

A very interesting fact: it looks like banshee jams my USB at OS level.
I've got an (already mounted) external USB hdd. After banshee freezes, if I try to physically access that disk (i.e., open something, using a console, that was not already in the OS cache), it takes several seconds to do so, and if the drive was sleeping, it takes that many seconds to spin up while it is otherwise istantaneous.
I've already tried starting banshee with the USB drive disconnected, with no success.

Suggestions on how to produce any useful debug information would be very appreciated.
