After starting X/GDM and after a logout and returning to GDM my laptop fan keeps spinning for 5 minutes. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Nvidia drivers 185.18.36 2. Start GDM or 3. Logout from Gnome and return to GDM Actual Results: The fan spins for 5 minutes Expected Results: No spinning of the fan (if not stressing the system) Looks the same as a bug reported for Ubuntu 9.10: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/46095

Workaround: downgrade to x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-180.60 Add to /etc/portage/package.mask >x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-180.60
