Description Anton Bolshakov 2009-11-11 05:52:04 UTC
Please adjust the description as well, PasswordSafe should be one word:

# eix -S "password safe"
* app-crypt/gorilla

Actually, looking at <http://pwsafe.org/>, apparently the original program, the spacing seems to be fuzzy. The Web page title, the banner, a lot of text on the front page, and even the application window screenshot seem to use two separate words. The string "PasswordSafe" (no spaces) does appear on the History page, but lots of other places appear to use "Password Safe". Maybe the proper form of the name is with a space? Or do you have a reference to where the unspaced name came from?

I would agree. The name probably should be with space. The original windows program (which app-misc/pwsafe compatible with) is "password safe" too:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/passwordsafe/

Anyway, they should be in the same category.

I wonder, why this bug takes so long to fix?

As for categories, I'm looking through some packages that manage passwords (storing and generating) right now. Taking a moderately random sampling, I see:

app-crypt/gorilla
app-misc/pwsafe
app-admin/apg
app-admin/keepassx
app-misc/tkpasman
app-admin/passook
app-admin/kdepm
x11-misc/revelation
app-admin/makepasswd
app-admin/pwgen
app-crypt/sgeps,

So the categories seem to be a bit scattered, but it looks like app-admin/ wins. Is that where password management tools should go?

Don't forget app-admin/keepass.
Comment 5 Ulenrich 2013-10-23 22:32:41 UTC
Don't forget app-crypt/ckpass

app-admin/keepassx is slated for removal.
