Description georgi 2009-11-07 00:38:43 UTC
I have just upgraded from kde-meta-4.3.2 to kde-meta-4.3.3. I have noticed several regressions, and I have filed a bug for each.

--------

This is a little hard to reproduce. In some cases, when a KMail window needs to open, a Kontact windows opens instead. This sometimes happens when I click "New" to compose a new message. Most deterministically (every time) it happens on KDE startup, when the KWallet password prompt appears, a Kontact window is open as well. I'd rather use KMail as a standalone program, and not Kontact.

Comment 1 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-12 12:30:22 UTC
This isn't anything we can fix in ebuild(s) but something that upstream needs to sort out.

Please open a clone of this bug at http://bugs.kde.org/

Reopening for tracking purpose.
Comment 3 Theo Chatzimichos (RETIRED) archtester gentoo-dev Security 2009-11-12 12:49:45 UTC
Please open an upstream bug (as Samuli mentioned) and paste the url here, so we can track it and backport the patch if any. Thanks

Oops, I posted the URL in the wrong place. Should be correct now. :)
Comment 6 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2010-04-13 22:43:35 UTC
Do you still see this in current stable kde 4.3.5 or in 4.4.2?
Comment 7 georgi 2010-04-14 22:27:11 UTC
The issue is still present in the latest 4.4 release. Kontact appears:
- When KDE starts up and KWallet appears.
- When I start typing in the To: field in a message composition window (but only once per KMail session).
- When Kopete starts.

The exact behavior has changed between 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4, but the basic problem remains. My intuition is that KWallet is somehow causing it. I haven't seen anyone else complaining, so over the weekend I'll try nuking my entire KDE configuration amd I'll see if Kubuntu has the problem too.
Comment 8 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2010-08-19 19:32:59 UTC
Any news here?
Comment 9 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2010-10-23 15:57:31 UTC
No reply here, no news on upstream bug. Assuming this is fixed. If not please reopen.
Comment 10 georgi 2010-10-24 17:15:46 UTC
Sorry for not replying earlier. I am waiting for the new Akonadi-based KDEPIM (4.5) to be available and in Portage, so that I can retest. The problem definitely has something to do with Akonadi, so I guess a large part of the affected code has been rewritten in 4.5.

When that's out and I test with a clean install, I'll open a new bug if there's still a problem.

Thanks.
