Looking at the config log myself (why didn't I do that before? Why didn't I bzip2 it before uploading?), I see this looks to be caused by bug #288977. That was reported upstream (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=530704) and has patch (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=365932). I am testing that now, and if it applies and works, I'll rebuild the toolchain and see if it solves the problem.
