Description Benjamin Barenblat 2009-11-02 19:42:06 UTC
I'm writing on behalf of MIT's Student Information Processing Board (sipb.mit.edu); we're currently attempting to set up a Gentoo distfiles mirror as per the instructions at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/source_mirrors.xml.

However, the initial rsync fails with this error:

rsync: send_files failed to open "/releases/.test/THIS-FILE-SHOULD-NOT-BE-PUBLIC.txt" (in gentoo-distfiles): Permission denied (13)

We still need to fix that. You can ignore that for now.

Add this to your rsync command:

--exclude="/releases/.test/"

I think this is fixed.

$ rsync -a ftp.ussg.iu.edu::gentoo-distfiles/releases/.test .
68825 /tmp % rsync ftp.ussg.iu.edu::gentoo-distfiles/releases/.test . -a                                                                                                                                                                        2014-05-13 18:07:25 alex pts/5
