Any chance you installed gcc with FEATURES="installsources"?

The file /var/db/pkg/sys-devel/gcc-4.4.2/FEATURES contains the content of the FEATURES variable used at install time.
Comment 6 Andreas Fink 2009-11-01 20:43:25 UTC
Yes I had for some time the installsources in my make.conf. But then I did not need all the debugging information anymore such that I deleted /usr/src/debug and /usr/lib/debug, since I thought this is only useful for debugging information.
But obviously this introduces that new problem... I'm going to re-emerge then gcc now again, and hopefully this will work.
