Description Bruce Fancher 2009-10-30 19:36:12 UTC
I've tried various permutations of emerge gcc, and it always ends up like this:

checking for library containing strerror... /bin/sh: line 20: 31152 Segmentation fault      /bin/sh ${libsrcdir}/configure --cache-file=./config.cache '--prefix=/usr' '--bindir=/usr/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/gcc-bin/4.3.4' '--includedir=/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.3.4/include' '--datadir=/usr/share/gcc-data/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.3.4' '--mandir=/usr/share/gcc-data/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.3.4/man' '--infodir=/usr/share/gcc-data/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.3.4/info' '--with-gxx-include-dir=/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.3.4/include/g++-v4' '--disable-altivec' '--disable-fixed-point' '--enable-nls' '--without-included-gettext' '--with-system-zlib' '--disable-checking' '--disable-werror' '--enable-secureplt' '--disable-multilib' '--enable-libmudflap' '--disable-libssp' '--enable-libgomp' '--disable-libgcj' '--enable-shared' '--enable-threads=posix' '--enable-__cxa_atexit' '--enable-clocale=gnu' '--with-bugurl=http://bugs.gentoo.org/' '--with-pkgversion=Gentoo 4.3.4 p1.0, pie-10.1.5' '--enable-languages=c,c++,treelang' --program-transform-name='s,y,y,' --build=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu --host=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu --target=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu ${srcdiroption} --disable-intermodule --enable-checking=yes,types --disable-coverage --enable-languages="c"

Upgrade to at least hardened-sources-2.6.25-r13, this is a problem of 2.6.25-r11 and is fixed by 2.6.25-r13 and later. Duplicate of bug #254843.
