Mysql AB recommends 5.1 line as production version, maybe it's time to unmask >=mysql-community-5.1 ?

This sounds like a duplicate of bug #194561 to me.

FWIW, robbat2 has said in comment 69 of that bug:

I agree with you. I did not see even masked version of dev-db/mysql-5.1.x and i didn't know about merging community with core.
BTW 2 years old, active bug .. ;)
