Description lathanhaiko 2009-10-20 04:24:28 UTC
Recently upgraded to

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start computer
2. Everything works fine until graphics load (init 3)

Actual Results:
1. Nvidia logo shows for 2-3 seconds, then screen goes black
2. Keyboard and mouse unresponsive, cannot ctrl+alt+1 (num lock and caps don't work either)

Expected Results:
Loaded X

I have a rather strange setup, 2 monitors attached to a Nvidia card and a TV on an older radeon. If I disable the TV/Radeon everything works correctly.

New to bug reports, so tell me what logs to get.

Comment 5 lathanhaiko 2009-10-21 04:34:11 UTC
Reverted
   x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.12.4
back to
   x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.12.1-r1

and the problem is fixed... For now.

I can still reproduce this issue on the newer ATI driver so if anyone can look at logs let me know.
Comment 6 Peter Alfredsen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-10-24 17:01:34 UTC
The only thing we can fix is the ati drivers, but if anyone else has some input as to what is going on here, please chip in. x86-video-ati changed something between 6.12.1 and 6.12.4 that nvidia doesn't like. Anyone have any good suggestions apart from "run git bisect"?
Comment 7 lathanhaiko 2010-02-27 05:36:52 UTC
Still a problem in x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.12.4-r1
Comment 8 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2010-04-08 08:49:08 UTC
Mixing a proprietary driver with something else is not really a supported configuration. Since 2.6.32 there is VGA Arbiter support in the kernel which supersedes the old isolateDevice code, but only the open source drivers make use of it.

Suggesting WONTFIX.
Comment 9 lathanhaiko 2010-05-16 20:03:53 UTC
Fixed / Works for me as of x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.13.0.
