After some updates of system (including revdep-rebuild of packages depending on new media-libs/jpeg-7 such as mplayer) mplayer (1.0_rc2_p20090731 as early and later version) stop recognize it's option "fontconfig" (early it works fine): $mplayer test.avi The fontconfig option can't be used in a config file. Error parsing option fontconfig=1 at line 132 Warning unknown option subfont-osd-scale at line 133 Warning unknown option subfont-text-scale at line 134 Due to this trouble there is no OSD and Subtitle support (and mplayer doesn't start untill comment this options) During retrying of re-emerging of mplayer I saw that in process of "configure" it can't find some installed lybraries (they also were re-emerging again after appearence of error): >>> Configuring source in /mnt/distrib/tmp/portage/media-video/mplayer-1.0_rc2_p20090731/work/mplayer-1.0_rc2_p20090731 ... .....
