It's doesn't work for me since some time, when I try to login, it tries to update from 2.1.0.1 to 2.1.0.1 (???) and the loading bar remains stuck at 74% showing "Unable to write to game".

Maybe it's a permissions problem, maybe as root it could be "solved" (as, in theory, it should update succesfully), but I am not sure about the proper way to handle it as running games as root is not always a good idea :-/

Confirmed, when run as root it updates to a 2.1.0.2 version, then, maybe games group should have write permissions on /opt/savage2 (something similar is already being done with enemy-territory)

This cannot be stabled as-is because users will simply be unable to play it, please add us when bug 300284 is fixed. Thanks
