Description Michal Špondr 2009-10-03 17:03:58 UTC
I'm not able to build gnome-bluetooth, because it needs both net-wireless/bluez-libs-3.36 and net-wireless/bluez-4.39-r2 (which is needed by totem and gvfs, which is needed by gnome).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge gnome-bluetooth
Actual Results:
[blocks B     ] net-wireless/bluez ("net-wireless/bluez" is blocking net-wireless/bluez-libs-3.36)

 * Error: The above package list contains packages which cannot be
 * installed at the same time on the same system.

  ('installed', '/', 'net-wireless/bluez-4.39-r2', 'nomerge') pulled in by
    net-wireless/bluez required by ('ebuild', '/', 'dev-libs/openobex-1.5', 'merge')
    >=net-wireless/bluez-4 required by ('ebuild', '/', 'net-wireless/libbtctl-0.11.1', 'merge')

    >=net-wireless/bluez-libs-2.25 required by ('ebuild', '/', 'net-wireless/gnome-bluetooth-0.9.1', 'merge')

Expected Results:
gnome-bluetooth should install

Your are trying to install something that depends on libs that only work with older bluez than what you have installed.

I understand, but the idea is wrong: it's current GNOME-bluetooth, so it should work with current Gnome. However for Gnome you need apps like gvfs, which are dependent on bluetooth (if USE flag bluetooth is enabled).

So I think it's necesarry to upgrade gnome-bluetooth, because there is no default application for Bluetooth in Gnome (is it?)
Comment 4 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2009-10-11 02:11:16 UTC
In current amd64 stable tree the graphical UI for bluetooth is provided by net-wireless/bluez-gnome-1.18, not gnome-bluetooth.
In the future gnome-bluetooth-2.28+ will replace bluez-gnome in the stable tree, and has done so in the testing tree now. gnome-bluetooth-0.* versions are more like a library primarily used by some deprecated bluetooth tools that also still use bluez-libs-3.
