Description Rabbe Fogelholm 2009-09-26 08:07:15 UTC
A recent `emerge -vuND world' brought in dev-libs/nspr-4.8. After this I cannot start seamonkey:

/usr/lib64/seamonkey/seamonkey-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libplds4.so.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
seamonkey-bin exited with non-zero status (127)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
I haven't actually tried this out. To see what I did, see "Description".

1. root> emerge -vuND world; emerge seamonkey;
2. non-root> seamonkey

Actual Results:
/usr/lib64/seamonkey/seamonkey-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libplds4.so.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
seamonkey-bin exited with non-zero status (127)

Expected Results:
The seamonkey browser coming up.

Workaround: Put a line =dev-libs/nspr-4.8 in /etc/portage/package.mask and redo `emerge -vuND world'.

Result of `emerge --info' on my machine:

Portage 2.1.6.13 (default/linux/amd64/2008.0/desktop, gcc-4.1.2, glibc-2.9_p20081201-r2, 2.6.30-gentoo-r4 x86_64)

Did you try to re-emerge seamonkey after you upgraded to nspr-4.8?

On a sidenote, seamonkey-2.0_beta2 has finally landed in the tree. You might try this version as it comes with a huge bunch of new features and improvements.

It does not get listed among the `emerge -avuND world' items. But maybe it would help to just re-emerge anyway. I'll give it a shot and report back.
Comment 3 Rabbe Fogelholm 2009-09-26 08:50:19 UTC
Good news, re-emerge of www-client/seamonkey-1.1.17 solves the problem. So all that is needed is to make it happen automatically on `emerge -vuND world'
Comment 4 Rabbe Fogelholm 2009-09-26 10:08:54 UTC
Hmmm ........ perhaps none of this would have happened if I had done revdep-rebuild after the emerge that pulled in nspr-4.8. If that is the case I am sorry for the noise.
