upgrading to sys-libs/lib-compat-1.2 results in the following error when
ldconfig is executed:

# ldconfig
ldconfig: /usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 is not a symbolic link

TO RESOLVE, downgrade to sys-libs/lib-compat-1.1 ???

I fixed this in -r1 - sorry, forgot about the bug.

Hey Az - how do you feel about marking -r1 stable? Non-~arch users keep hitting
that one.
