The semantic desktop of KDE4.3 depends on the soprano lib. The soprano lib must be compiled with JAVA use flag, so that the sasame2 backend gets build. Without this strigidaemon fails to start. It seems not to work with only having redland backend installed. This may or may not be a KDE bug, but for now sesame2 is required. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Symptom: 1.) No file indexing starts 2.) In KDE system settings module: Tab Advanced->Desktop Search Try to enable strigi file indexer: The error "Strigi service failed to initialize, most likely due to an installation problem." will appear.
The issue is a bit different - soprano would work with redland if... if redland storage wouldn't crash. See bug 275326 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 275326 ***
