I guess the only reason 1.6.6 is still stable is that no one even tries to install it when they see 3.0 is out! I guess 3.0.2 should be put stable, as 2.0 had only troubles with auto update being checked on startup which was fixed and maybe resume from suspend when using a specific network adapter, all of those were fixed in 3.0.0 and I never had trouble with 3.0.0 to 3.0.2 on x86 and x86_64 yet. Just to specify: I use VirtualBox on a daily basis, most of the time, starting and stopping machines more than once a day.
Yes, we're aware of it. Stabling has been delayed for various reasons, 1.6 is prehistoric and should be obsoleted soon. Be patient.
