Another victim is mod_fcgid which apparently manages to start the new wrapper, but then dies with scary segfaults in dmesg: python[7308]: segfault at 0 ip 410a1544 sp bfbf11b8 error 4 in libc-2.10.1.so[41024000+16d000]
Reinstall app-admin/eselect-python and run: eselect python set python2.6

I just repeated this - it was not just a freak accident. I guess it does not like the binary, maybe because of -fno-PIC and dynamic loading in a module?
