Previous bug report from http://brief.mozdev.org/drupal/node/207#comment-726 seems to indicate this is because of using a system sqlite and not firefox's internal copy. Bug for this patch exists, http://bugs.gentoo.org/207701

Are you using binary firefox or compiled firefox, in other words are you using mozilla-firefox-bin or mozilla-firefox?

Using compiled mozilla-firefox. Currently merged mozilla-firefox-3.5.1-r1.

Thank you very much for your prompt response.

Can you duplicate this using -bin or is it busted there as well?
Comment 5 Jory A. Pratt gentoo-dev 2009-08-03 01:44:15 UTC
I am also a bit concerned with the reviews of this extension.

Brief not working for me

I cannot seem to get this add-on to work at all. It won't import my feeds or bookmarks - nothing. Can anybody help?

It works perfectly on -bin, no errors about fts3 or anything and the feeds display correctly.

Not sure about the reviews, as I stated it was working when I moved from 3.0.10. Have tried it in a blank profile as well with only Brief installed, and the same error occurs.

Just ran into the same problem, could this be related to bug 207701?

Oops, i just realized that this was already in the initial comment, didn't see that before. Sorry for the noise.

Just checked 3.5.3 which works perfectly.

Just checked 3.5.5, back to old behaviour. Didn't check 3.5.4

Actually, could you check 3.5.4? If the problem was introduced in 3.5.5, we can get 3.5.4 stable instead.

Also, could you try with 3.6_beta1 from the overlay (if the extension still works with 3.6b1)? That way we can check if we need to investigate this further or just stabilize 3.5.4.

Okay I've got it. I previously only checked on 3.5.3, everything after adds the sqlite use flag to use system sqlite. Turning off system sqlite makes it work, it's almost certainly http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=207701

Checked this on 3.5.3-r1 through to 3.5.5 and all work without sqlite use flag.
Comment 16 Nirbheek Chauhan (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-12-13 05:48:18 UTC
This should be fixed in firefox-3.5.5 with the sqlite dep bumped to 3.6.20-r1 (bug 207701)

Closing fixed, thanks for reporting
Comment 17 Jory A. Pratt gentoo-dev 2009-12-13 17:25:25 UTC
We need to ensure they enable fts3 support if building with external sqlite. Will fix in day or so.
Comment 18 Nirbheek Chauhan (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-12-13 18:06:30 UTC
USE=fts3 dep added, closing...
