Hi folks, I noticed that the kernel module stopped working on 2.6.29.x kernels and never got around to debug the issues. Though I created now new patches that make the kernel module work on (vanilla) kernel 2.6.30.x. Please add them as soon as possible to the ebuild. Thanks! Cheers, Thomas

Created attachment 199880 [details] Patched ebuild for the kernel 2.6.30.x compatibility patch.
I just saw that this ticket has been assingned to the kernel people. I think I made a when I described in the subject that the attached patches are "patches for kernel 2.6.30.x.". Actually they are only patches for the ebuild and the sources of the module within media-video/qc-usb-messenger. Therefore I think it is not necessary to have the kernel people involved but only the maintainer of the module media-video/qc-usb-messenger. Sorry for any inconvenience. Cheers, Thomas
assigning to maintainer
I believe the patches will fix the compile problems, but you'll get oopses or segfaults. Take a look at the qc-usb-messenger branch and you'll see a patch that deals with v4l file system operations API change. It's an easy fix. They apply everything to 2.6.30, but if you apply the v4l API fixes to 2.6.29 and above, you'll be working up through 2.6.31. Good luck, - Jim
Sorry, I meant for that comment to go to the qc-usb-0.6.6. Thomas, you got it right!
Yeah! Not it compiles on kernel version 2.6.30.x But the webcam doesn't work with skype. Is it normal? Anyway, which program do you use to test the webcam? xawtv seems to not work! Thanks
(In reply to comment #7) > Yeah! Not it compiles on kernel version 2.6.30.x > But the webcam doesn't work with skype. Is it normal? Anyway, which program do > you use to test the webcam? xawtv seems to not work! I am using the camera driver with camserv. Now on kernel 2.6.31 and it works just fine.
