Description Conway S. Smith 2009-07-25 20:48:08 UTC
The USE Flag 'compat' was used in net-misc/dhcpcd-4.0* to enable commandline compability with dhcpcd-3.x, and was removed from net-misc/dhcpcd-5.0*. However, the net-misc/dhcpcd-5.0* ebuilds still use the 'compat' flag to control whether or not to install /lib/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-hooks/50-dhcpcd-compat, a script which creates /var/lib/dhcpcd-<iface>.info files. And since 'compat' was removed from IUSE in the ebuilds, the script is never installed, and a QA Notice is triggered.

I suggest adding a USE Flag 'info' to replace 'compat' for controlling the install of /lib/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-hooks/50-dhcpcd-compat.

Roy, opinion here?

I would rather that user scripts were updated to the new variables, which are more plentiful and provide greater flexability.

On the other hand, the compat script does no harm either.

I think this recommendation is probably the best choice.

If you disagree, please feel free to let me know.
