Does this module fill any dependancies for existing ebuilds? Perl modules are only added to portage in order to fill other dependancies. Otherwise we recommend using CPAN to install modules locally.

So would I call CPAN from the ebuild?

I think you misunderstand me. We only add ebuilds to portage for perl modules if they fulfill a dependancy for another ebuild, or if they provide functionality to another ebuild (having module foo lets package bar do X). Otherwise, we do not add perl modules.

Bug #27861 needs File-ReadBackwards in order for the Graphdefang program (part of 
Mimedefang) to work. Graphdefang makes graphs of Mimedefang filtering activeties.
