when I updated portage by "emerge -uv portage", new version 2.0.49-r3 was merged, old version 2.0.48-r5 was rewritten by new version, and then just merged version 2.0.49-r3 was unmerged with this message: ... sys-apps/portage selected: 2.0.49-r3 protected: 2.0.48-r5 omitted: none >>> Packages in red are slated for removal. >>> Packages in green will not be removed. ... it was not possible to add or remove or update any package without manually copied portage files (all portage files of some portage old version from backup). next could i merge portage 2.0.48-r5, which was then fully functional. but this is only workaround. there must be some bug in the old or new version of portage. rmrf
1. older version 2.0.48-r1 have the same bug 2. the bug is experienced when updating any package (using the three mentioned versions of portage)
