I've got a eeePC-701: after following the handbook, I tried the X configuration guide. It's a stable x86 system, up-2-date and installed less than a week ago using latest minimal. I only have gentoo-sources-2.6.30-r1 and xorg-server-1.6.1.901-r3 (and its deps ~x86) and xf86-video-intel-2.7.1 and mesa-7.4.2 ~testing. I used this kernel and testing packages as suggested by Remi, but the stable 2.6.29-r5 kernel and xorg-server-1.5.3-r6 and xf86-video-intel-2.6.3-r1 and mesa-7.3-r1 gave me the same problem. I also tried both: auto configure (xorg.conf.new seemed ok) and no configuration file at all, same result. I ALWAYS, IN ANY CASE, have the same lockup as soon as the texture is drawn (1.5) or the screen is activated (no more texture in 1.6). I have to press Z4sec the power button since CTRL+ALT+anything doesn't work. The mouse "X" cursor appears in 7.5 in the middle of the screen, blocked. In 7.6 I don't see the mouse at all. The keyboard seems stuck. Also tried both 2.6.29 and 2.6.30 with or without intel modeset (KMS) enabled. No difference. And tried w abd w/o intelfb or any other framebuffer. And with agpart and dri builtin or as module and w or w/o intel modeset in kernel config. As you can see in Xorg.0.log, DRI2 and UXA start but the error persists.

Created attachment 194790 [details] Also attach one kernel configuration (though I tried more than one as you can read in the #1)
This one is nice: if I do startx (instead of X) twm is started and 2 terminals and the clock are opened. But the mouse and keyboard is immediatley locked up.
INVALID: I had not started hald. Heh ....
