Description Adam Bowers 2009-06-09 14:28:27 UTC
If I click on the home folder icon the home directory fails to open. After some trouble shooting I have discovered that this behavior only happens when gDesklets is started via the login session. If I kill the daemon and start it manually, the home directory opens as normal.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Login into Gnome
2. Click home icon.
3. Type 'gdesklets stop' in terminal.
4. Type 'gdesklets start' in terminal (with or without --no-tray-icon).

Actual Results:
Home directory fails to open.

Expected Results:
Home directory should open.

Comment 1 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-17 20:35:23 UTC
don't know how this package landed into gnome herd but it should probably be moved to gdesklets herd.
Comment 2 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-23 12:02:28 UTC
if nobody objects, I'll send this package to maintainer-wanted in a week.
Comment 3 Joe Sapp (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-25 11:56:45 UTC
Feel free to reassign it if you want Gilles, but I don't want to try to maintain it any more. Upstream has long deprecated support for the code being used in this package ("Sensors") and there's somewhat of a replacement (http://gdesklets.de/index.php?q=desklet/view/101), though I don't have an ebuild for it. Not to mention the other software that does similar things (i.e. gnome-extra/avant-window-navigator)...
Comment 4 Joe Sapp (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-25 11:59:16 UTC
I'm not sure this is a gdesklets bug but probably one with desklet-starterbar. If you don't feel comfortable poking around the desklet's/Sensor's code, I think dropping the package from the repository is the only recourse (see comment #3 for why).
Comment 5 Joe Sapp (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-03-31 16:59:13 UTC
Dropped from repository.
