After upgrading to app-cdr/k3b-1.0.5-r5 (from app-cdr/k3b-1.0.5-r3) the program icon is missing from the menu. The menu entry can still launch the program correctly, as expected (which means that the .desktop file is OK and only the icon is missing). It seems that the K3b icons were installed as "/usr/kde/3.5/share/icons/hicolor/*/apps/k3b.png" (replace '*' with various resolutions). The file "/home/<username>/.local/share/applications/kde-k3b.desktop" contains the line "Icon=k3b" without specifying the full path. I am a Gnome user, maybe Gnome isn't searching for icons in this directory? A bugzilla search revealed that many "missing icon" k3b bugs were fixed in the past (but those were ancient k3b versions). Probably related, probably not.
