gustavoz pointed out to me that the download sources for sqlite --- ${P}.tar.gz --- are not recommended. To quote the sqlite upstream site at http://sqlite.org/download , ======================================= A tarball of the complete source tree for SQLite version 3.6.14.1 as extracted from the version control system. The Makefile and configure script in this tarball are not supported. Their use is not recommended. The SQLite developers do not use them. You should not use them either. If you want a configure script and an automated build, use either the amalgamation tarball or TEA tarball instead of this one. To build from this tarball, hand-edit one of the template Makefiles in the root directory of the tarball and build using your own customized Makefile. ======================================= And for the amalgamated source, I have no idea why the changed tha naming scheme from -3.6.14.1.tar.gz to -3_6_14_1.tar.gz --- maybe to support ciaranm's and peper's comments on extending what an ebuild version can look like. :) No, I haven't evaluated the amalgamated/tea source files. I'll look at them as time permits.
Actually, the amalgamation source is named: ${PN}-amalgamation-${PV}.tar.gz It's the TEA source that's named ${PN}-3_x_y_z-tea.tar.gz Sorry for getting that wrong.
The amalgamation tarball doesn't contain extensions, tests, TCL bindings etc.
