Please post your "emerge --info". Which version of kdebluetooth do you have installed?
I have this problem too. On dbus-1.2.3-r1 everything works fine.

It should be somewhere in /var/log, depending on the logger you use (usually /var/log/messages or /var/log/everything/current). Look for messages that look like 'Apr 23 14:03:02 axion dbus-daemon: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules;'.

quick and dirty fix ... edit your /etc/dbus-1/system.conf .. look for the line <deny send_type="method_call"/> and change it to <allow send_type="method_call"/> enjoy!

For those who still suffer from this bug: I am not very familiar with dbus config files but I have created such thing which is probably not the prettiest solution but is much better than patch submitted here. maybe you have to add following lines only to your bluetooth.conf .. should work too <policy group="users"> <allow own="org.bluez"/> <allow send_destination="org.bluez"/> <allow send_interface="org.bluez.Agent"/> </policy>
This one is for sure also needed: <allow send_destination="org.bluez" send_interface="org.bluez.Adapter"/> It finally started working after I added this one.
Maybe this should block bug 250444
kdebluetooth isn't in tree anymore.
