Description Kai Wüstermann 2009-04-21 19:51:52 UTC
After updating to net-print/cups-1.3.10 from cups-1.3.9-r1 Fonts are outline (German: Kontur-Schrift). Tested with OpenOffice Writer (font: Arial) and Tomboy (standard font).

I am using the net-print/hplip-2.8.6b driver HP LaserJet 1100 Foomatic/hpijs (recommended) with AppSocket/JetDirect to a print server.

Printing to Cups/pdf is not broken.

Reproducible: Always

I switched back to cups-1.3.9-r1, that is working.

Is this still a problem with net-print/cups-1.3.11-r4 (current stable)?

Sorry, not answering any more!

It is the same. I figured out, this only infects quality "draft". So I switched to "normal", waited longer for the printer and forgot the problem.

Hmm, ok. I suspect this is not really a cups problem, but one of the underlying driver. What driver settings / what driver do you use for the printer?

I've seen this effect myself... we have one of these beasts at the office, I can probably test sometime.

I think it's the normal behavior of newer cups versions. They use outline letters to save toner.

It's not April yet... Anyway, if you think it's not a bug, we resolve it...
