Description Tommaso Pasini 2009-04-07 16:45:43 UTC
I've been upgrading my system with gcc-4.3; now I'm unable to start firefox, I receive only "Segmentation fault".

I tried recompiling mozilla-firefox, xulrunner and sqlite with different CFLAGS just as a test, every compilation ended fine but firefox still didn't start. I upgraded sqlite to 3.6.12 - no luck.

I then removed my .mozilla configuration directory to see if there was any problem related to my profile; firefox now *starts*, but when I try to import my old bookmarks the segfault strikes back.

I decided to try some kind of debugging with both situations (old and missing configuration directory) with strace but I'm unable to read anything useful; I'm attaching the logs here, bzipped because they are 1,2M and 4,8M uncompressed.

The backtrace from gdb shows /usr/lib/librsvg-2.so.2 as the last recognizable point during the execution, before the segfault.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Recompile everything with gcc 4.3.2-r3
2. Try to run firefox
3.

Strace log when running firefox with a newly created profile

I've been able to find the right fix: reverting librsvg to 2.22.2.

The weird part is that I wasn't affected by the problem since I was running gcc-4.1, I'll report this in the other bug.
