Anjuta 2.26.0.0 fails to compile. This may actually be a bug with gstreamer since the error is related to missing libgstbase-0.10.la (and libgstreamer-0.10.la). Here is a work-around: 1. make sure gstreamer is installed with 'emerge gstreamer' (I'm using version 0.10.22) 2. 'ebuild /usr/portage/media-libs/gstreamer/gstreamer-0.10.22.ebuild unpack' 3. 'ebuild /usr/portage/media-libs/gstreamer/gstreamer-0.10.22.ebuild compile' 4. 'sudo cp /var/tmp/portage/media-libs/gstreamer-0.10.22/work/gstreamer-0.10.22/libs/gst/base/libgstbase-0.10.la /usr/lib' 5. 'sudo cp /var/tmp/portage/media-libs/gstreamer-0.10.22/work/gstreamer-0.10.22/gst/libgstreamer-0.10.la /usr/lib' 6. 'emerge anjuta'
there's no reason that this file would be missing. could you just reinstall gstreamer the usual way, run revdep-rebuild and see if anjuta still fails. CCing gstreamer in case the did something to the .la
Re-emerging gstreamer did not add the .la files. Anjuta was in the revdep-rebuild list and still failed with the same error, as did numerous other packages in the revdep-rebuild list such as bluez and python. I masked gstreamer-0.10.22 and installed 0.10.21-r3. This did install the .la files. I diffed the two ebuilds and found the following lines in the 0.10.22 ebuild: " # Drop unnecessary libtool files find "${D}"/usr/$(get_libdir) -name '*.la' -delete || die "find and dele te failed." So it looks like the gstreamer team removed the .la files from 0.10.22 on purpose. It seems this probably isn't actually a bug with anjuta, but either a gstreamer issue or a problem with my environment instead. Should I resolve this as Invalid?
Please upgrade gstreamer to the latest ~ version and go through the revdep-rebuild list. If one package fails, move on to the next one until the whole list is done. Thanks
no, this just means that gstreamer team decide to break everyone without providing a tool to make the transition smoother as x11 team is preparing to.
@gstreamer, please be gentle and provide a way to make this less painful, solutions exists as x11 has started work on this for libxcb. Thanks in advance.
Here's the script, the important sed voodoo is between lines 38 and 42. http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/x11.git;a=blob;f=x11-libs/libxcb/files/xcb-rebuilder.sh;hb=HEAD
When I synced yesterday, the 0.10.22 versions of gst-plugins-* were available. After installing these, then re-installing gstreamer, revdev-rebuild completed successfully. This seems strange since the .la files are still not there and this is what anjuta complained was missing before. I wouldn't think the new plugin versions would change anything.
I removed the line tha removes the .la files. If someone care enough to remove them, I guess he'll have to come up with a solution.
