1. start tcpdump / wireshark
2. wait a few seconds

Have you ever had a kernel that worked correctly with tcpdump/wireshark? If yes, what version?

Also, could we have a copy of your kernel config and the output of your `lspci -vvv`?

Yes of course, but by my knowledge, not this one. Usually I run on gentoo-sources.

Does the same problem exist with 2.6.29?

It appears I have the same error. Start wireshark, wait a few seconds, system freezes.

This is a confirmed bug, for now we have a workaround.

The upstream owner does not have a fix as of yet. If one gets committed, we can try to backport at that time.
