odt2txt is a command-line tool which extracts the text out of OpenDocument Texts produced by OpenOffice.org, StarOffice, KOffice and others. It's really useful to be able to use "diff" on odt files when doing version control. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Created attachment 186082 [details] odt2txt-0.4 initial ebuild Initial ebuild for the program, tested and works here on my amd64 system
tested and works fine on x86 and amd64 i'd like to add that odt2txt is default program used by Midnight Commander for viewing odt files. odt2txt is provided also by unoconv (see bug 262083) but this one doesn't depend on OOo.
It's also available from my overlay (layman -a tante).
This is also needed for enabling indexing on oasis files for tracker. It should be added as a dependency to app-misc/tracker
Created attachment 232853 [details] Updated ebuild that works also on Darwin under Gentoo-prefix
Created attachment 232855 [details, diff] Patch required by the ebuild just posted
A use case for this tool is when you use git to manage OpenOffice documents and want to be able to see what has changed from one revision to the next. https://git.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/GitTips#How_to_use_git_to_track_OpenDocument_.28OpenOffice.2C_Koffice.29_files.3F
This is now in the sunrise overlay. You can find it at: http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/sunrise/browser/sunrise/app-text/odt2txt/odt2txt-0.4.ebuild
