emerge with USE = "-mad", mp3 sound began to play normally. media-sound/mpd-0.14.2 USE="aac alsa ffmpeg flac ipv6 lame mikmod ogg unicode vorbis wavpack -ao -audiofile -curl -debug -doc -icecast -id3 -jack -libsamplerate -mad -musepack -oss -pulseaudio -zeroconf"
that probably means you're using ffmpeg now, so this might be a problem with your libmad
Tried USE="-ffmpeg", USE="-lame", the same thing. Helps only USE="-mad".
I have libmad: media-libs/libmad-0.15.1b-r2 USE="-debug" Tried libmad: media-libs/libmad-0.15.1b-r5 USE="-debug" The result are the same.
(In reply to comment #4) > Tried USE="-ffmpeg", USE="-lame", the same thing. Helps only USE="-mad". > lame has nothing to do with mp3 playback, just -ffmpeg and still +mad won't make a difference, -ffmpeg -mad should prevent mp3 playback completely
libmad also uses mplayer, it will play mp3 with normal volume. kidoz # equery d libmad [ Searching for packages depending on libmad... ] media-sound/mpd-0.14.2 (mad? media-libs/libmad) media-video/mplayer-1.0_rc2_p28450 (mad? media-libs/libmad)
Try mpd-0.15_beta2.
(In reply to comment #8) > Try mpd-0.15_beta2. > I think I might be having a related problem. With "mad" in useflags for mpd-0.14.2, mp3s play correctly. However, with mad set for mpd-0.15_beta2, I'm unable to play them. I'm using the digital output from my sound card, and my receiver shows that the link goes down. mpd.log doesn't show any errors, and mpd shows that the file is playing, and lasts for the correct time for the file. If I switch to an ogg or flac file, it works fine. Doing USE="-mad" (with ffmpeg already set) makes mp3s work in mpd-0.14 and 15. Let me know if you need emerge --info, or the mpd logs, etc.
