At least it worked when I tried to compile libjit without portage. Could you try with -U_FORTIFY_SOURCE in CFLAGS and see if that helps?

I tried to compile with gcc-4.2.4 , 4.1.2 and 3.4.6. All of them worked fine. Is gcc-4.3.3 broken somehow?
