here are other gnome packages installed in my system

I have this bug for a long time, and thought it will go away with updates.
Comment 2 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-03 11:10:24 UTC
sorry but your backtrace doesn't include any symbol that would be needed to help debug your problem. Please check documentation at [1]

Comment 3 Konstantin 2009-03-04 17:53:29 UTC
Sorry. Thanks for the link. First I've recompiled nautilus dependencies with CFLAGS="-O2 -march=nocona -mtune=nocona -ggdb -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" and FEATURES="splitdebug" and then also recompiled ~250 packages, but backtrace still looks the same. Do I need to recompile the whole world with debuging options? It's a little bit problematic. Also some other bugs prevent process from going smoothly.
Comment 4 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-07 23:24:29 UTC
Ideally, yes (I run my system permenantly with ggdb, splitdebug, and installsources just so I can debug crashes); however, in practice, only the portions of the dependency tree that are in the backtrace need to be rebuilt. In this case, minimally nautilus, eel, and glibc, based on your backtrace. Other things that are probably necessary are gtk+ and glib.
Comment 5 Konstantin 2009-03-14 07:22:51 UTC
It took some time, but in the end USE="-hardened -glibc-omitfp debug" emerge libc glib with splitdebug have made the trick.

Comment 6 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-15 01:15:06 UTC
Thanks, we now just need to submit an upstream report.
Comment 7 Konstantin 2009-03-15 07:12:37 UTC
 Sorry, what "upstream report" is?
Comment 8 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-15 12:15:15 UTC
upstream report refers to a report filled at upstream bug tracker, here it is http://bugzilla.gnome.org. Would you like to do it ?
Comment 9 Konstantin 2009-03-15 16:48:25 UTC
 I've experience some lags using gnome bugzilla. Also I havn't registered. So if you wouldn't mind, I leave it to you.
Comment 10 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2010-04-26 21:50:06 UTC
I haven't seen this with 2.26 and neither with 2.28
Comment 11 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2010-06-13 17:40:57 UTC
Feel free to reopen if you are able to reproduce with recent nautilus releases
Comment 12 zolar czakl 2010-08-27 23:03:14 UTC
gnome-base/nautilus-2.30.1-r1 alone (no gnome at all).

$ nautilus --no-desktop
Initializing nautilus-gdu extension

(nautilus:7565): Gtk-WARNING **: Could not find the icon 'system-file-manager'. The 'hicolor' theme
was not found either, perhaps you need to install it.
You can get a copy from:
	http://icon-theme.freedesktop.org/releases
**
Eel:ERROR:eel-wrap-table.c:494:wrap_table_get_num_fitting: assertion failed: (max_child_size > 0)
Aborted
**

Without icons, the problem is still present.

Since x11-themes/hicolor-icon-theme is not a solution (tested), USE="gnome" is not an option (or at least we need some kind of message about the missing icons).
Comment 13 k_berbach 2010-09-24 14:45:49 UTC
I can confirm with 2.30.1-r1. Always reproducable when trying to view properties of a file or folder:

$ nautilus
** Message: Initializing gksu extension...
**
Eel:ERROR:eel-wrap-table.c:494:wrap_table_get_num_fitting: assertion failed: (max_child_size > 0)
Abgebrochen
$ emerge  -pv nautilus

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

I do have the highcolor icon theme installed

Please create a new user account and test with it
Comment 15 k_berbach 2010-09-27 20:29:44 UTC
Worked. Though I am not sure which folders to delete to make it work with my regular user. Tried everything gnome/gconf/nautilus related, but still the same

Thanks however
Comment 16 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2010-09-27 20:34:16 UTC
In that case please be a bit patient, I also had a similar problems years ago and had to explore under a lot of subdirectories to find the culprit :-/
