I have installed app-office/akonadi-server-1.1.0 and kde-base/akonadi-4.2.0 in order to be part of my KDE4.2 desktop. On startup, most of the time, akonadi fails to start with the following error log (Will be in next attachment, it's large). In addition I have run "akonadictl start" on the command line in order to get more error info. A message mentioned several times in the output is: "[akonadiserver] Did not find MySQL server default configuration (mysql-global.conf)" this file is nowhere to be found on my system, I can only assume it is supposed to be part of the akonadi-server package. Created attachment 180822 [details] akonadi error log
Also, I've just run: $ grep mysql /var/db/pkg/app-office/akonadi-server-1.1.0/CONTENTS which yielded the following results: obj /usr/share/config/akonadi/mysql-global.conf aa6f4e0409fb5aadcdb9e5d283b55faf 1230999101 So I am a little confused, because as root, suddenly I can see that directory (but only when root, normal user gets permission denied because /usr/share/config/ for some reason has 700 perms).
Just a follow up, adjusting the permissions of the /usr/share/config directory to be 755 fixes the issue with akonadi. Not sure which package created that directory and why it had such restrictive permissions.
This bug has been a hit and miss bug for a long time now for KDE-4. We still need to find out what is changing the perms of /usr/share/config to 700 instead of 755.
