Reproducible: Always

Run 'emerge --sync; emerge -1 gcc' and try again to build dev-db/unixODBC.
If it still fails, then reopen with 'emerge --info'.

I'm also having this error. Tried to compile with GCC 4.1.2 and 4.3.3 with same results.

I've also got this issue, here is my emerge --info:

Reopening.
Comment 5 Christian Hoffmann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-02-15 18:43:33 UTC
I highly doubt this is a bug in the unixODBC package. It rather looks like a package, which is needed for building (m4? autotools stuff?) fails to run, after it has been rebuilt with the latest gcc package (which enables FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 by default, if I recall correctly).

Please run emerge --debug unixODBC so that we can see which command exactly fails.

You could also try re-merging m4, autoconf and similar packages one-by-one with the older gcc (<gcc-4.3.3) and see at what stage it starts working again.

Re-assigning to base-system, as the problematic package most likely belongs to them. Might be a dupe, but we cannot be sure at this time, so leaving it you base-system guys.
Comment 6 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2009-02-15 19:20:21 UTC
try re-emerging gettext

Comment 8 sargun dhillon 2009-02-15 21:38:04 UTC
The failure happen's on autopoint, a package belonging to gettext. Re-emerging gettext doesn't help at all. I can't use <gcc-4.3.3.
