I think that making http://dev.gentoo.org/devaway/ more "accesible" for users from bugs.gentoo.org would be interesting. Think for example in the following test case: 1. A user sends a bug report to bugs.gentoo.org 2. He/she waits during some weeks and receives no reply at all 3. Most users will be disappointed and will think that maintainer doesn't care on its packages. Some will simply reply to bug asking for some kind of response or simply criticizing the dev. But, maybe, dev is not replying because he is not able as he is away, then, would be useful make http://dev.gentoo.org/devaway/ more accesible for letting reporters to check if assigned maintainer is away or not. Well, even better would be that bugzilla "automatically" would add something like "(Away)" at end of developer name in bugzilla account when .away entry is created, but I dubt this could be technically possible as I don't know too much about bugzilla :-/ Thanks a lot Reproducible: Always
I actually had an idea for bugzilla to reflect a devs away status similar to retired.
If it would be possible it will be even better =)
Any news here? At least automatically appending "(Devaway)" to developer names in bugzilla would be really interesting to inform users about the status
Yes please...
I think that technically we could just do this with a cronjob, similar to how we retire devs. However, I'm not sure what the impact of periodically checking all devs would be. We also need to account for interoperability with retirement script. Robin, what do you think?
(of course, the best solution would be to upgrade devaway to actually fire triggers when status changes)
Updating summary with the away list that we actually care about. The page on woodpecker is ancient and unmaintained.
