Description Matt Hartley 2003-07-31 12:18:29 UTC
The vmware workstation 4 ebuild is poorly designed in that it is trying to grab
an update file for the 2.5/2.6 kernels when I have a 2.4 kernel. The update
file has also been incremented to ..-38, so the -37 file no longer exist on the
servers.

Reproducible: Always

the reporter made a poorly designed bug when he forgot to `emerge sync` first

also, said file is only 174663 bytes

this highlights a limitation of portage not the ebuild
Comment 2 Matt Hartley 2003-07-31 16:17:50 UTC
Actually, I did do an emerge sync, and the problem was still there.

And ebuilds can be designed with different SRC-URIs based on external variables, see my latest ac-sources ebuild at bug #22897.

Your rudeness was unnecessary.
Comment 3 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-07-31 16:33:06 UTC
building of SRC_URI's like that is incorrect, it breaks the way portage works

the rudeness was in resonse to your own

the latest 4.x contained 38, i thought i had updated all of the 4.x's, i was wrong

i still am making the 178k d/l mandatory until portage changes
