*update*

I just checked out the file it was referencing when it was dying with the error

/var/db/pkg/mail-client/mailx-8.1.2.20021129-r2/mailx-8.1.2.20021129-r2.ebuild

and on or about line 19 where it says

Code:

DEPEND=">=net-libs/liblockfile-1.03
    virtual/mta
    !mail-client/mailutils
    mail-client/mailx-support"

at the end of the line mail-client/mailx-support it did not have a closing " it appeared to have a ^A there.
Comment 1 Grzegorz Chwesewicz 2009-02-10 20:57:57 UTC
Changing line 26 in mailx-support-20060102-r1.ebuild from 'emake CC="$(tc-getCC)" || BINDNOW_FLAGS="$(bindnow-flags)" || die "emake failed"' to
'emake CC="$(tc-getCC)" || die "emake failed"' fixes this issue.
