appeared to have a ^A there.
Changing line 26 in mailx-support-20060102-r1.ebuild from 'emake CC="$(tc-getCC)" || BINDNOW_FLAGS="$(bindnow-flags)" || die "emake failed"' to 'emake CC="$(tc-getCC)" || die "emake failed"' fixes this issue.
