I am trying to use media-fonts/unifont-5.1.20080914 in my terminal. Unfortunately xterm scales the fixed size version very badly and cannot handle the proportional ttf version. Using rxvt unicode resolves this but displays some glyphs differently (i.e not at all). As an example see http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ucs/examples/UTF-8-demo.txt (or some of the other files) On my box the Ethiopian section is fully displayed when using xterm (with both fixed size version and ttf version) and cat/less/vim. With urxvt (and the same font, both versions) not these glyphs are displayed, instead the box for a missing glyph. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ucs/examples/UTF-8-demo.txt 2. compare less/vim/cat output of file in xterm and urxvt Actual Results: amharic section glyphs displayed in xterm, not in urxvt Expected Results: same glyphs
Does this happen with x11-terms/rxvt-unicode-9.06-r1 ?
Which urxvt settings do you use?
