Description Klaas Decanniere 2008-12-20 09:31:46 UTC
Observed on two amd64 machines that are on a different upgrade path.

Googleearth worked fine on both up to approx. 1 week ago, now it does not work anymore. No big upgrades of libraries during that time as far as I remember.

I will send the crashlog file it produced, but I'm not sure that is helpful.

I tried re-emerging on one of the machines. No difference.

Before crashing it tells me that there is a never version available from google, so I will try that one

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:

I can confirm this bug on AMD64 with googleearth 4.2.205.5730.
Comment 3 Tiago Madeira 2009-02-08 18:19:43 UTC
Same problem here. Anyone managed to fix it?
Comment 4 rookcifer 2009-02-08 23:01:59 UTC
Same problem here. I am using amd64 with an Nvidia card.

One other thing of note: Whenever I start google earth, it will tell me the proper font is not installed, even though the font was pulled in as a dependency during the emerge.
Comment 5 Tiago Madeira 2009-02-08 23:16:26 UTC
Uhm... So the problem is problably not my video card, maybe it's amd64.

But, btw, I don't think the font causes the problem, since I don't receive this message.
Comment 6 Tiago Madeira 2009-02-08 23:21:20 UTC
Anyone here tried googleearth-5.0.11337.1968_beta?
I'm having other problem with it: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=258157
Comment 7 Martin Thierer 2009-03-30 10:34:53 UTC
I had exactly the same problem (yes, amd64). Upgrading to 4.3.7284.3916 helped. Didn't try 5.0 beta.
Comment 8 Róbert Čerňanský 2009-06-10 19:39:36 UTC
5.0.11733.9347 is working fine here (amd64, nvidia, stable system).
Comment 9 Michal Špondr 2009-10-18 21:14:44 UTC
I've got the same problem on amd64 and also nVidia graphics card.
Comment 10 Vlastimil Babka (Caster) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-02-19 11:54:54 UTC
Does 5.1 work?

x11-misc/googleearth-5.1.3533.1731-r1 works here (x86 stable system, nvidia, with use flag qt-bundled)

5.1 was stabilized.
