2.7.2-r1 but I have it earlier

I'm guessing that the part betwean Portage 2.2_rc17 and PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS
 (both included) looks like emerge --info.

in case it wasn't clear, having issues because of new _masked_ python means _you_ get to figure out what's wrong with python or what changed that makes it behave wrong.

Does someone know what makes libxml2 different from all the other packages with Python bindings?
I somehow assume that dev-libs/libxml2-2.7.2-r2 fails to build the Python bytecode in postinst.
This sample is taken from dev-libs/libgamin-0.1.10-r1:
pkg_postinst() {
    if use python; then
        python_version
        python_mod_optimize /usr/$(get_libdir)/python${PYVER}/site-packages
    fi
}

pkg_postrm() {
    if use python; then
        python_mod_cleanup /usr/$(get_libdir)/python*/site-packages
    fi
}

looks like you hit the spot. I just finished upgrading my laptop and finally could reproduce this bug with epiphany. I just commited a fixed libxml2 but no bump as unless you are messing with python 2.6 there is no reason you wouldn't have the .pyc/.pyo.

Please reopen if you are still experiencing this issue after waiting for next mirrors sync and rebuilding libxml2.
Comment 9 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2009-01-26 05:38:01 UTC
Does pkg_postrm have USE=python enabled if you just upgraded libxml2 with USE=-python? Not quite sure how USE is gotten to there, I suspect it works fine though, just wondering..

Do we really want to python_mod_cleanup on all the stuff, instead of just site-packages/*libxml2*?

Shouldn't we use python_need_rebuild here too?

applied without a bump to all revisions.
