I think I will change the binary name for SNNS since this is very likely the less frequently used package and a normal SNNS user hardly ever uses the SNNS netperf command.
Comment 2 Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-10 13:59:13 UTC
Changing binary name in netperf itself is not best solution so yes, in snns it looks better to change. Another solution is to add blocker, but that's up to you which way to choose.
Comment 3 Patrick Kursawe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-02-12 19:08:45 UTC
This will be changed in snns 4.3, but there are still a few open issues that prevent me from committing that ebuild.
Comment 4 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-08-26 00:51:50 UTC
net-analyzer/netperf now blocks sci-mathematics/snns. Please readd netmon@ when you have fixed all versions of sci-mathematics/snns in the tree (not just hypothetical new versions) so the block can be removed again.
Comment 5 Patrick Kursawe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-08-26 18:39:28 UTC
After no reaction from the upstream packager for half a year and since there are no essential differences between patched 4.2 and 4.3 I decided to push out 4.2-r8 which renames netperf to snns-netperf. No other changes.
Arch teams, please mark -r8 as stable so that the netperf blocker can be removed again.

Thanks for the hints, no idea how I could _not_ notice that.

Comment 11 Patrick Kursawe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-09-08 09:38:09 UTC
Netmon: You can remove the blocker now for >= -r8
Comment 12 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-08-14 13:13:48 UTC
wtf? There is absolutely no need to recycle bug reports for new purposes. Just file a new bug report next time.
