Wow old bug. * package net-irc/irc-client-2.10.3_p7 NOT merged * * Detected file collision(s): * * /usr/share/man/man1/irc.1.bz2 * /usr/bin/irc * * Searching all installed packages for file collisions... * * Press Ctrl-C to Stop * * net-irc/ircii-20060725 * /usr/bin/irc * /usr/share/man/man1/irc.1.bz2
So, what is the best action? To try to convince ircii people to install a binary named ircii instead of `irc'? To be ridiculously complicated and install an irc-client eselect module to choose between the two :-p? I have just committed changes making the packages block eachother. If something additional should be done, please reopen this bug. On the other hand, irc-client seems to have moved its internet presence and I don't know where to. Maybe that package should be eventually cleaned...
Something went very wrong here. ircii-20111115 has: # This and irc-client both install /usr/bin/irc #247987 RDEPEND="${DEPEND} !!net-irc/irc-client" irc-client-2.10.3_p7 has: # This and irc-client both install /usr/bin/irc #247987 RDEPEND="${DEPEND} !net-irc/irc-client" Unless there'a reason to forcedly uninstall irc-client before building ircii (rather than uninstall it before *installing* it), this should be weak '!' blocker. And I'm pretty sure the second snippet should have s/irc-client/ircii/ ;-P.
commit 0f52a175d6bc9ad8e2de0b00f26befa8b050864a Author: Michał Górny <mgorny@gentoo.org> Date: Mon Dec 21 20:03:55 2015 net-irc/irc-client: Fix blocker on ircii Fix the mistaken blocker to point at net-irc/ircii rather than net-irc/irc-client iself. Bug: https://bugs.gentoo.org/247987 Please confirm ! vs !! in ircii though.
Is there any need to keep a client like irc-client whose last version is from 1999? :/
